Feet of poor Vietnamese girl. I took this picture.

Grounding, Earthing, Tethering; call it what you will.  This is relatively new “science” that people of ancient cultures seem to have known for a very long time.  Connecting our bodies to the EARTH is good for you!  Go figure right.  It’s like we were meant to live here or something.  In the health community this concept is relatively well-known but a lot of people still are not aware of the principles here.

I do not pretend to be a scientist in this subject.  I can only state my personal experience and what I have read.  What is “grounding?”  Basically you put your bare feet on the ground.  That’s it.  Of course there are variables.  “Wetter is better” is often used.  Anything that helps your feet get a more solid connection to the earth.  The earth has a certain electromagnetic charge which our bodies have evolved to resonate with.  What are some of the benefits here?

EMF: The earth will discharge and “suck up” electromagnetic pollution from your body very quickly.  How cool right?

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY: Better recovery from exercise, less joint pain.  Anything that is inflammatory in the body can be helped by grounding.

STRESS:  Earthing will help discharge stress and balance your nervous system out.  It can be used to calm down.

Look at the other animals all around.  What do they have in common?  They all are in almost constant contact with the earth.  Now for most of us living modern lives this simply is not possible.  So what is the best way to go about doing this?  Do your computer work or reading outdoors when possible.  Put your feet in the grass or sand.  One of the healthiest things you can do on a regular basis would be to sit outside in the sun and fresh air with your feet in the ground.  This goes into an upcoming series on “elemental nutrition.”  When being indoors is the only option there are “grounding mats” available now that mimic this system.  Basically one end of a metal post goes into the ground outside or via your electrical ground and the other side goes into a mat you can put your feet on or sleep on.  These are viable options and definitely worth having around for computer usage, etc. So let’s get outside, discharge and protect from the EMF’s that are quickly popping up everywhere, and get some grounding in.
